Nebula Storage
Build the machines. Nebula handles the recipes.
Nebula Storage adds searchable storage networks, machine-driven autocrafting, wireless access and workshop monitoring to Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Connect your equipment, install your server hardware and manage your resources and production from one terminal.

Current version: 0.1.0-alpha.7. Development status: public alpha. Features, recipes and balancing may change. Back up your world before installing or updating. A platform's “Release” file category does not change this development status.
Features
- Connected storage: search by name, mod or tag; manage resources through the Nebula Terminal; connect compatible inventories with Importers, Exporters and External Storage.
- Machine-driven autocrafting: discover supported recipes from installed or connected equipment, without encoding recipe patterns or allocating channels. Review planned outputs and intermediates in a five-column grid with icons, names and quantities.
- Upgradeable servers: configure motherboards, CPUs, RAM, drives, network interfaces and power supplies. Hardware capacity, bandwidth and power affect what the network can run.
- Industrial production: manufacture components and hardware with the Fabricator, Wafer Processor, Lithography Unit and Assembler, using compatible local modules and data-driven recipes.
- Solar generation: progress through seven generations, from compact solar equipment to large deployable arrays, with astral collection on the later tiers.
- Wireless access: pair portable terminals and wireless cards to your network. Range depends on the installed cards; remote access does not keep chunks loaded.
- Custom displays: arrange monitoring widgets and edit Information Panels with formatted text, item illustrations and live network values.
- Creature storage: capture and restore supported creatures while preserving individual saved data. Configure display grouping without merging individual records.
- Multiplayer access: assign player roles and manage network permissions, with server validation of sessions, transfers and crafting requests.
- Guides and localization: use in-game Ponder guides and interfaces in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese.
The distribution contains 118 inventory entries, 31 registered blocks including one internal solar structure block, and 103 built-in recipes. See the complete first-publication changelog for every block, item and recipe.
Requirements
| Component | Supported version |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 |
| Mod loader | NeoForge 21.1.194 or a later 21.1 version |
| Java | 21 |
| Multiplayer | The same Nebula Storage version on the server and every client |
This file does not support Fabric, Forge or other Minecraft versions.
No separate KotlinForForge installation is required. The official Kotlin standard library is bundled. Nebula uses a compatible Ponder installation already present in a pack when available, or its bundled official fallback otherwise. Required guide/rendering libraries are included. Keep KotlinForForge if other mods in your pack need it.
Installation
- Back up your entire world before installing or updating.
- Download the current JAR and place it in
mods. - Remove any older Nexus Storage or Nebula Storage JAR when updating; do not load both.
- For multiplayer, install the same version on the dedicated server and every client.
- Start with a Controller, Server and Terminal. Install the server's hardware and supply FE through the Controller's power socket.
A power supply limits available power; it does not generate energy. Crafting-table recipes require a real crafting table installed in a Server or connected through an External Interface.
For much older development worlds containing retired blocks or items, read the upgrade guide before loading them. The rename retains the nexus_storage mod ID and saved resource IDs for compatibility; it does not rename existing world data.
Compatibility
JEI and EMI are optional. Version-validated adapters cover supported machines and resource owners from Mekanism and selected industrial mods. These machines still need their native resources, power and other prerequisites. Not every recipe, dependency version or modpack configuration is supported.
Startup tests reached the menu in copied instances of ATM10 4.5, Craftoria 1.37.0, FTB Direwolf20 1.22.0 and FTB Evolution 1.44.0. Multiplayer tests also covered concurrent storage/crafting, permissions and restart persistence. These checks do not certify every production chain or a long-running session in each pack.
Read the integration coverage and limitations before planning around a third-party machine. Exact optional-adapter version gates are listed in the complete changelog.
Building from source
Use JDK 21 and Node.js 22. The repository includes the Gradle wrapper; a separate Gradle installation is unnecessary. Python 3.11 or later is needed for the CI packaging tools.
git clone https://git.vyxs.fr/vyxs/nebula-storage.git
cd nebula-storage
./gradlew build
On Windows, use gradlew.bat build. Output JARs are written to build/libs/. Local builds default to 0.1.0-dev; use -PmodVersion=0.1.0-alpha.7 when building that release's checked-out source. The release pipeline supplies its version from the tag.
The build checks compilation, the public API baseline, Kotlin tests, assets and model geometry. See testing, CI and releases and contribution guidelines for the packaged GameTest profiles and release process.
Extensions and contributions
The public extension API lives under dev.nebulastorage. Extensions can register supported resource types, hardware, recipes and machine/storage adapters. Extensions compiled against the former dev.nexusstorage packages must be rebuilt.
